Vera Gwen Workman Reed of Midway, Utah, passed away on Saturday, Aug 7, 2010 in Bellflower, Ca. She had been living with her daughter, Connie and Neal Clyde for the last four years.
Vera was born Sep. 11, 1915, in Rainbow, Utah, to Clifford and Rachel Young Workman. She married Alvus Bud Reed on March 23, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake temple. They moved to Midway in 1939, where she lived until 2006. Mom loved Midway and was very happy there. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many positions in the church, including Ward Primary president and MIA president. In 1982/83 she served a one year mission in the Georgia, Atlanta Mission. Mom always loved genealogy and family history work. She taught many classes in family history over the years, and spent many hours in the Church Genealogy Library in Salt Lake City. On July 1972 she wrote “In making a report on my genealogy work, I find I have been able to have temple work done for over 33,000 persons as of this date, and to complete 8 books of Remembrance.”
Her family, including grandchildren and great grandchildren love to look through those books she compiled, because they could always find some pictures and thoughts about each of them. Over the years she also taught many 4H classes. Later she enjoyed the Senior Citizens organization, where she served several years as President.
Vera is survived by two daughters, Connie & Neal Clyde of Paramount, CA., and Barbra Moon of Clearfield, Utah, three Sisters, Fawn Williams, LaVorda Street and Stanice Thomas, a sister-in-law, Charlene (DeLoss) Workman, 11 grandchildren, 47 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
