Ray Farrell HEBER CITY, UT

The stars will now shine a little brighter in the sky, with a new electrician to tend them.

Beloved father, grandfather, husband and friend, Ray Farrell returned to his Heavenly Father on August 9, 2010 after succumbing to complications associated with cancer. Ray was born on May 24, 1934 in Midway Utah to William and Annie Farrell. He married the love of his life, Ruth Curry, on December 27, 1957 in Heber City. Their Marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple in May of 1962.

The respect and devotion Ray and Ruth share for one another is the essence that defines love; a more true love could never be imagined. Ray graduated from Wasatch High School in 1952. He served in the United States Military from 1957 to 1959. As a volunteer fire fighter Ray protected his neighbors in the Heber Valley for 50 years. He was an active and faithful member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and recently served as a clerk in the 6th Ward Bishopric.

Laboring was Ray's passion. Work was how he lived. He was employed with Heber Light and Power from 1956 to 1996, working 28 years as General Manager. He served as Secretary to the Intermountain Power Agency, helping to broker and secure financing for the project from concept to completion. He was the acting Chairman of the Board at the time of his death. In addition he served as a Board of Director for Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems where he held many leadership positions, including President, for that organization. Friends and family witnessed the impact and importance of service in Ray’s life daily. Without fail he would rise to any and all requests for assistance and dedicate himself to the task until a solution was realized. He taught us to always answer the call to serve.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Farrell; Brothers Steven (Susan) Farrell and LeeRoy (Sherilyn) Farrell, both of Midway; and his four cherished children, LouAnn (Norman) Lim of California, Linda (Troy) Klungervik of Heber City, Doug (Andrea) Farrell of Cedar Hills, and Annette (Jason) Norlen of Heber City; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
